Style Inspiration: Elly

For New Year's, I made a resolution to dress like a French woman. It sort of worked, in that I bought a bunch of striped shirts :) Well, recently, I've found myself inspired by Elly's all-American style. She makes lots of her own clothes, and her look is totally comfy and adorable!

How would you describe your personal style?

I may have a bit of a polo shirt obsession. I probably have more than 20 in every imaginable color in my closet. :)

My style tends to me classic/preppy/comfy....

I don't. It's undefined because on any given day I either hate everything in my closet and want to start from scratch or I love it all and try to mix it up by combining style inspirations. If I'm forced to define it I would say casually chic. mainly because I love denim but am a sucker for a high heeled shoe.

i am constantly resolving to dress more like a french woman...some days i definitely pull it off, others i don't. looking rad is all about an air of confidence, too...i like to mix prints and patterns of similar color groups, though my favorite colors together seem to be hot pink and red.

Cute. I like the nautical theme.

i'm not sure i have a specific personal style-- i think i'm all over the place. but i love her shorts and tanktop, so cute!

I mix alot of 90s grunge with my personal twist. I wear alot of black and grey, with pops of blue and green.

You are impossibly cute. Buying a ton of striped shirts should totally count as goal: achieved!

Striped shirts are so chic! Elly's style is always so good, It is so nice to see her featured!

My personal style is usually lots of neutral heathers, plaids and checks. But lately I've been gravitating to florals.....not really sure why...

Joanna said...

I strive for something low-key, yet polished. Lately I've been gravitating more towards a tailored, slightly masculine look and not so much the ultra girly dresses I lived in during the past few years.

My personal style:

Painfully cute yet trendy. Chic yet comfortable. I tend to mix the elements. :)

Every time I try to be something other myself it never seems "right", so I stick to my good ol' "classic" style: a mess a peacoats, white shirts, and jeans, always. Though living out here in the boondocks, I'm just as often in cowboy boots as ballet flats. And I have a bizarre love for classic things in crazy colours ie. my glow-in-the-dark *seriously* yellow 94c flats!

Ok, I love that your resolution was to dress like a French woman...so lovely. I really don't know what my style is...I love to wear things that fit me really well...long sweaters with tight pants...long dresses, a great pair of jeans and a plain tee. I love to layer, dress in pretty neutral colors, but try out trends in accessories, shoes and handbags of course! I would also like to incorporate some French style as well...

I just go for whatever is comfortable. But I love these outfits!

Sadly, I think my style could best be described as "Schlumpy Suburban Mom."

I'm big on jeans and fitted t-shirts for everyday wear. I also love flip flops, so I guess I'm beachy, lol!

My style is like "vintage, always chic like a newyorker" (that's what my friends say) I copy a lot of the sertorialist to. The most important thing for me is wear something original.
Visit my blog! thanks~

OH very cute indeed.
I must admit I am falling more and more in love with the French sense of style

iheartkiwi said...

i like to think i'm still developing my own personal style... but the french, they do have a certain something don't they.

but, i have noticed that when i shop for clothing i try to look for quality pieces i will wear forever versus trendy things that won't last.

I would describe mine as kaleidoscopic. It's ever-changing.

I have dressed the same way for the past ten years and it follows a simple style guideline: winter and fall I revert to "grampa-style" (cardigans and cords, while in spring and summer it's "gramma-time" ( skirts, skirts and more skirts) In each category, the more retro the better. The only rule is if I leave the house looking like a Golden Girl, I need to be told. Immediately.

I just noticed the quote on the t shirt on the bottom is from What About Bob? - my mum's all-time favourite movie! (ya she's a quirky one)
My personal style? I wouldn't want to 'brand' it - but I am heavily influenced by J Crew - classic American style with a European sensibility.
(perhaps a bit of a reach - that sounds a little fancier that it usually is...)

I never heard of her, and now can't wait to check her out! My style? Time time of year, it's mostly a-line dresses in simple, natural fabrics (or what my husband refers to as "boxy smocks"). I think they're so darn comfy and chic.

Dear Joanna,
Why would you want to dress any other way than the way you dress now?
I love you style and like the way you just are!
Dont change my dear, your perfect!

super feminine= skirts and dresses all the time with flats and sometimes skinny jeans. It's awesome that you're trying to dress like a french woman! Parisians have the best style. Me and my husband have talked about dressing like Jean-Paul Belmondo & Jean Seberg from Breathless for awhile, but haven't put the effort in yet.

Sammi said...

Spanish style for sure.

Aladdin pants with thick jumpers in the winter and skirts with logo tee's in the summer. Jeans in the evenings, and long scarves in the winter.

I love her clean crisp American classiness. Too cute.

I'm a bit more rough around the edges. Lets call it punk office chic with a dash of Madeline.

reminds me a bit of Elle MacPherson my favorite fashionista, I love her style. I'm very into Jcrew these days but by fall it will be time for me to move onto something different , I'm loving the new Gucci boots with the buckles. I must have them. I feel like wearing them in September with slip dresses may look great or may look ridiculous , I'll have to try and it and see!!

Love the strips and french women do have alot of style. I can see why you made that resolution.

I love that, how nautical! My style is sort of basic + vaguely ethnic. That's the best description that I can come up with!

hollie said...

why would you resolve to be something you aren't? I can understand liking french style.. but to consciously try to be something you're not seems a bit odd.
