Braid Love

When I was little, I'd sit on the living-room floor, and my mom would French-braid my hair. It made my already huge head look enormous (an orange on a toothpick!), but I adored it anyway. So, recently, I was thrilled to discover the new Flickr group Braid Wednesday. How gorgeous are these women? Don't you want to wear braids again?

  4. i totally agree with bee! the third photo would be amazing for wedding hair. still haven't decided what to do with mine... i just know there will be gardenias.

    i can french braid other people's hair but can't do it on myself! must practice.

I was just telling my friend that when I was little, every Saturday night my parents went out for dinner & I always looked forward to three things: Lays potato chips, chocolate Haagen Daz (we weren't allowed sweets in my house) & getting my hair french braided by my talented babysitter! Not much has changed since- I would quite enjoy the same things right now!

  10. oh how i love this..but i can't do braids anymore! i tried this morning and i felt like i lost a part of my childhood b.c i couldn't figure out how to get my bangs into my braid! alas. i will have to admire from a distance.

  13. Periodically, I decide that I'm going to let my hair grown long again. Not because I want it long, because I think it looks better short, but because I miss being able to braid it.

    This is making me slightly regret my recent decision to go short again. So elegantly relaxed. I love it.

  14. Unfortunately, my hair is too short to wear braids but it's photos/groups like these that always make me think about trying to grow it out (which I know will never work. I'm just too impatient). These hairstyles are so ideal for summer, though.

  30. came across this flicker group about a week ago...love love love!

    Short hair braid tip! I have a little shaggy bob that i thought would be impossible to french braid. But what I do is I do one big french braid down the middle and by the time I get to the nape of my neck there is just the tiniest bit of hair left so I twist it up and pin it with bobby pins. It looks super elegant and fun and takes literally 5 minutes.

    When my parents got divorced my dad bought a book to learn how to braid my long curly hair. He became the baddest braider on the block...one of my favorite stories about him..so sweet.

  66. Anyone commenting with very short hair should just try a small french braid on one side of a deep part! My hair is probably 6 inches long on the top and less than 1 inch long in places and I still braid. Ofcourse, I am growing it out with very little more than big braids as a reason!
