Wouldn't you love to stay in this cottage in the Scottish Highlands? It's so gorgeous. A great book + fresh groceries + a bottle of wine + people you love = the perfect vacation. P.S. I watched Rachel Getting Married this weekend. Have you seen it? It's so good!!!

Sounds like an amazing vacation to me!
ReplyDeleteOh how beautiful. I love how secluded it looks!
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen Rachel's Getting Married Yet, but I have heard from everyone how great it is. Definitely on my MUST-SEE list.
This would be a dream for me & the Hubs too! What a lovely cottage you've found. A must add to The List : )
ReplyDeleteUm, yes, definitely. Ever since that P.S. I love you movie, I've been dying to go.
ReplyDeleteNot sure the boyfriend would be too happy with me meeting a cute Scot, but we'll cross that bridge when we get there.
Sounds like a fantastic vacation! I am really loving the white wood-paneled walls of the bedrooms, and those ladder back chairs in the dining room are screaming my name!
ReplyDeleteThis looks so beautiful. HB and I were just talking about how much we would love to go to the north of England and the Lake District. Scotland would be beautiful, too!
ReplyDeleteOh, how lovely! I watched that movie this weekend as well, wasn't Anne Hathaway brilliant?
ReplyDeleteps I love how it is spare and yet looks comfortable and pretty.
ReplyDeleteThis would be PERFECT. I've always longed to holiday in the Scottish highlands. I've been dying to go back to Scotland ever since my too-brief visit to Edinburgh. I almost can't handle the beauty!
ReplyDeleteI watched Rachel Getting Married last week, too.
ReplyDeleteIt is a good movie! I love that it's a movie about getting married that's actually realistic (my sister, oddly also named Kim, is shockingly similar to the Kym in the movie).
I LOVED that movie! The wedding was so so beautiful...I hope mine will be like that someday - minus all of the drama :)
ReplyDeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteWhat a find!'
Thats a dream cottage and dream location.
Scotland is a great place for a holiday.
Love,
Herrad
oh, that vacation sounds like perfection! how i need a little getaway..
ReplyDeleteps... i have such a girl crush on anne hathaway after seeing rachel getting married. i think she is sooo talented!
I would love to stay there!
ReplyDeleteI'm dying to see that movie too!
I am lucky enough to be able to say that we stayed in a cottage in the scottish highlands in 2000. One of THE best holidays of my life. Log fires at night while we played cards by candlelight, sheep in the front garden, watching a barn owl hunt at night. Sigh. really recommend that you all do it!
ReplyDeletegorgeous! and no i haven't seen it yet! so many movies on my to-watch list!
ReplyDeletewhat lovely images and yes, that does sound like an ideal vacation spot indeed!
ReplyDeleteThat looks wonderful. I've been reading a series of books by Diana Gabaldon that is set (mostly) in the Highlands and it's making me really want to go there.
ReplyDeletei would live to visit the islands around scotland. Anything around there just seems to be out of a painting!
ReplyDeleteThis place looks INCREDIBLE!
ReplyDeleteI watched Rachel Getting Married on Friday and really enjoyed it! I loved how naturalistic it was and the acting was exceptional! Although it reminded me a little too much of my own family, which made it a real tear jerker.
ohhh Rachel Getting Married was so good. I was exhausted after watching it!
ReplyDeletethis looks absolutely gorgeous. i'm still dreaming about that sailing vacation off of the maine coastline you posted a while ago. p.s. i've never seen RGM, but i did see I Love You, Man. hysterical!
ReplyDeleteoh that looks so ideal for a holiday. just the perfect spot for tramping about in my rainboots!
ReplyDeleteThis cottage looks SO dreamy! The bedroom is absolutely perfect!
ReplyDeleteOh what a lovely setting! I wish I could be there right now!!
ReplyDeleteI can't stop loving your blog Jo!!
I'm going to the Isle of Skye in a weeks time to saty in a cottage just like that! Weee!
ReplyDeleteCrisp, white rooms are so simple, but they get me positively giddy. I love this cottage; the perfect vacation spot indeed!
ReplyDeletethat looks amazing. a vacation is just what i need right now. need to get away and clear my head. and that looks like the perfect place. oh well. maybe someday.
ReplyDeleteand no i havents seen rachel gets married yet, but i have heard about it. ill definitly try to check it out sometime! :] thanks for the recommendation!
Mmm, white white white and more beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI love those lamps, in the bottom right corner. I always want to get them and then find out that they are so uber expensive. Except I repress that everytime I find out and continue to disappoint myself each time I look for them.
Sounds like a fantastic holiday, yes. I will now have to accrue more than then 21 hours of holiday that I currently have.
Ahem, Joanna: Cold, rainy, windy, limited groceries I'm sure, so you'd have to eat tinned spam every day. Mmm, probably weird locals as well and definitely no Internet. Love the cottage though, can we move it somewhere else?!
ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful. The rates seem afordable, now let's see what airfare is. I'll drop you a line when I get there.
ReplyDeleteThis place look so beautiful and peaceful!
ReplyDeleteThis is such a pretty cottage, I really want to see Rachel Getting Married too!
ReplyDeletewhat an amazing place!!
ReplyDeletedefinitely going to check out rachel getting married - everyone i talk to said it's good.
I lived in Scotland for a while and it was just amazing. The place is just pure magic!
ReplyDeletethat cottage looks so cute! i'm going to Italy this summer and i cannot wait to finally visit Europe.
ReplyDeletewhat a beautiful cottage!! and yes, rachel getting married was SO good!
ReplyDeleteYou had me with the first image.
ReplyDeletei'm half scottish and have been drooling to take a trip. i've figured out where my family is from, now i need to take a couple of weeks and go romping around and hopefully find cottages like that one!
ReplyDeleteActually this little vacation in the scottish highlands is totally a honeymoon that I can imagine Rachel from Rachel Getting Married going on.
ReplyDeleteLooks so home-y, and private, and comfy. Love it!
Kisses from Paris!

For some reason I've never been able to get into the Scottish Vacation Idea. Too cold for me, I guess. But it looks beautiful!! I love the cottagey look.
ReplyDeleteI don't just want to stay in that gorgeous cottage, I want to live there for all of eternity!
ReplyDeleteYes...I need a vacation right now! :-)
ReplyDeleteLooks like a place I know on the Isle of Skye. Hope you get to go - the Highlands are magical and mystical. Thanks for the pics!
ReplyDeleteI've had these images sitting on my desktop for a few weeks and totally forgot where I got them from. Thanks!
ReplyDeletelooks like the perfect spot for a break!
ReplyDeleteMy brother stayed in that cottage last month. They had a fabulous time. You are totaly isolated. He said everything was perfect, but the road to get there was trecherous but worth it.
ReplyDeleteLove this cottage. Maybe I'll look into it....
ReplyDeleteSaw RGM and I loved loved loved the wedding!! The bohemian tent with so many talented musicians. If, or when I ever get married I hope my wedding would be as fun as that one!
BTW...Joanna, you looked beautiful at your bridal shower. So glad you had someone taking pictures. xo
i am in love with this cottage. i don't even need the highlands. just the cottage.

ReplyDeleterandom, i know :)
if you're not already familiar, become familiar with this blog.
no way, jen! that is so cool! and thank you, yvonne :) and kelli, i love that site!!
ReplyDeleteI love Rachel Getting Married - definitely on the more complex side, which I always crave in a movie! I particularly liked the plot twist in the end regarding the mother's culpability in the events that changed Rachel's life forever.
ReplyDeleteI love that cottage, it looks so peaceful. I bet you could go there and relax and it would be perfectly quiet.
ReplyDeleteI want to see Rachel Getting Married, it looks cute. I'll rent it soon.

So I just went and looked at some Sottish pictures and definately had a change of heart. Even if it's cold--they invented gortex for a reason! (No matter how icky it looks)
ReplyDeleteI would love to do a photoshoot in these parts. Colours are so vivid.
It looks so cozy. I loved the movie--though I cried like crazy.
ReplyDeleteI like it a lot ...but is it just me or does it look a tiny bit scary? All alone out there by yourself....hmmm!
ReplyDeleteMy husband is from the city of Aberdeen, Scotland. It is truly the dream vacation spot. He just can't imagine living there again permanently..tooo cold! Did you ever see the movie "Made of Honor?" Good Scottish scenery.
ReplyDeleteI loved Rachel Got Married too (:
This is gorgeous. I want to be there right now!
ReplyDeletethis would totally satisfy my scottish highlands fantasy! it's beautiful!
ReplyDeleteOh, yes! How lovely! Perhaps you'd see their funny little native Highland cows, which they pronounce as hee-lund coos, grazing in front of the cottage :)

oh that kind of holiday is just what I would like right now xxx
ReplyDeleteI have to say, you are absolutely 100% spot on. I spent a week in Skye and various other locales, it was amazing!
ReplyDeletethat looks so amazing! I want to live there!
ReplyDeleteI would never want to leave!
ReplyDeletethose pictures made me swoon.
I'm so there...not really, but a girl can dream...xo t
ReplyDeleteYou've struck a chord with many of Scot descent who dream of just such a trip, including me.
ReplyDeletewow...looks amazing
ReplyDeleteHi, I came across your blog through Che and Fidel! I live in Scotland, and I couldn't help to notice that gorgeous holiday cottage!! It looks amazing! We’re hoping to holiday in Applecross this May...unfortunately that cottage seems booked up for ages though!! Our friends own a gorgeous cottage in the south of Scotland...you should take a look! http://www.escapetogalloway.co.uk
ReplyDeleteI live in Scotland so I really can't imagine it being anybody's ideal holiday location! It pishes down every single day, the sky is always grey, everywhere smells, the people are rude and scary and there are absolutely no nice men! Everybody's fat and ginger and spotty and sweaty and leers at you like you're meat for the picking or scowls at you like you're scum. Seriously it's yuck.
ReplyDelete...I have stayed there. One of the most heavenly weeks of my life. Seriously.
ReplyDeleteGo if you can! It's very simple, and remote...to me, complete bliss.
And hey {leineypie} - Scotland is a fantastic place with brilliant people, in my experience {being a Scot and all though, I am bound to say that} But the sun is shining today ;))!
