Bathing beauty

I'm loving this 1950's-style bikini from the shop Frances May. It has such old-school glamour, don't you think?

P.S. Also, the sweetest groom ever.

  1. I LOVE vintage-inspired swemsuits. There is something so Betty Page about them.

One day I will get a beautiful white suit, with that sweetheart neckline, break out the bright red lipstick & layout with my baby oil : )

  6. adorable. but i'd be so afraid of having mom butt that i'd probably just have to wear it while lounging oceanside. come to think of it, this might be a very good excuse for lots of lounging and less swimming. ah, to be lazy.

  7. oh so cute! i love it...going to palm springs in may, time to think about swim suits. this one would be perfect.

  8. I love the idea of this bikini, but I don't think it would look good on a majority of body types.

  9. It is super cute and modest....always a good thing in these times of butt floss.

  10. Not sure about the suit, but am mad for the Frances May Church and State Dress Dix Dress or the Church and State Quatre Dress. Both would be perfect for a summery afternoon at an outdoor cafe (preferably in Paris).

  19. I love, love, love this! I've been searching for a two piece like this for awhile. I like that it's high waisted.

  20. I think the high-rise looks great on paper but is a little too much to wear in real life.

I recently got the greatest 50's-inspired bikini at H&M, speaking of retro swimsuits.

  26. I think it is cute in theory, but I don't think it would be cute on me! like some of the other commenters, I would be worried that the bottom would make my butt look bigger than it already is! :)

  27. i already posted my thoughts at smitten but didn't feel comfortable expressing how aghast i was over how many people opted for g-strings. so i will do that here: i was aghast!

  30. i love this look! It's so cute, but the tan lines wouldnt be all that flattering.

  31. I love the top, but I'm not so sure about the bottom. Its a little to high of a rise for me. Maybe if it was a little lower I would like it better. I do like fifties style bathing suits though!

That girl has ass for weeks. And she's skinny. I mean I like the concept of the style, it's just not flattering for most body types.

  33. Wow, I agree with the others that it takes a certain body to pull this off, but the model sure is rockin' it. It's very va va voom and sweet at the same time.

  38. ahh thats so adorable!

  39. takes a lot of balls to wear that. i think that's what makes is adorable.

  40. This is super cute, but I think the high waist might make my bottom look even bigger...

Love, love, love the old-fashioned bikinis, however this one could stand to be modernized just a teeny bit. The waist hits in an odd place; either cover the belly button or expose it a little more. Also the side leg and butt cheek could be less covered up (just a smidgen). I'd buy this bikini and make those adjustment myself or have a seamstress/tailor do it.

  54. That is just too freggin' cute. Joanna -- it would be just perfect for you!!

  55. I love the style, and the print is cute as well. However, I think I'd pass. I'm not crazy about the silly tan line I would get with those bottoms. ; )

    ReplyDelete
  56. i love those styles too! actually, i just did a few posts on retro swimwear on my blog...check them out, you'll like them too!

  57. Since I'm an active beach-goer, I love that these bottoms actually cover the behind and seem like I wouldn't have to fix them every two minutes.
