    These are great! I love the Whale one, and the silhouette women cover is soooo pretty. It would make pretty wallpaper as a feature wall in a vanity room, or a wardrobe.

  19. We just posted this on our blog too. Oh, how I love book covers. I am definitley a person that judges a book by its cover and will buy it not caring whats inside as long as it is pretty to look at. Thanks for the inspiration.

    also i am known to buy old magazines for their covers as well :)

  30. Thanks for this share. I love looking at book covers. I have to admit I have a bit of an obsession with that brillant red copy of The Catcher in the Rye. I must have like 7 copies of it and keep buying it. I love the way they look on the shelf together. It's also interesting living abroad and seeing different covers not in the US. Different perspective.

  31. i kid you not, saturday night my friend and i both discussed at length our guilt ridden consciences from having picked only books with covers we were drawn to our whole lives. i love that many other people do too. why else would they have book designers anywho?

  37. My parents work at a big newspaper, and I was helping out in the stock room where all the books are sent to be reviewed. I got to take a bunch home with me, and I picked mostly on an aesthetic basis. I picked up that book "New Bedlam" because I liked the cover! Funny to see it here :)

    I love book covers too! The Monsters of Templeton has a really beautiful cover, IMHO. I also thought the cover of The Time Traveler's Wife- such a pretty shade of light teal/blue.

  43. Yes, as a graphic designer I have always wanted to design book covers. My chance has not come up yet. I hate to say it but I often judge books by their covers, that's why I picked up Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close: A Novel by Jonathan Safran Foer. Turns out that the book was as good as the cover! :)

    Yes! i bought Dave Eggers' You Shall Know Our Velocity just because the front page was on the cover of the book! Talk about a way of selling itself - I read the cover and was hooked. It turned out to be a really good book! I heard a few years later that he added chapters, but I haven't had the chance to read the revised version.

    I always choose books for their covers. Somehow, when a cover is so inspiring and/or beautiful, it just makes the book seem that much more magical.
