I was on CNN today!

You know how you might read a blog all the time and see the blogger's photos, but never see that person in real life? It's kind of weird, right? I always feel like I know people without having ever seen them!

Well, if you'd like, you can see, uh, me, moving and talking on this CNN.com clip today about an apartment swapping story I wrote for Budget Travel. The wide screen stretches me out a little (eeks!) but it was really really fun to do and I now I have secret fantasizes about becoming a news anchor! But only happy news, of course.... :)

P.S. It was totally weird to do this video. It looks like I was talking and looking at the news anchor, but really I was in a teeny dark room all by myself, staring into a empty black screen. I had an earpiece so I could hear what she was saying. But from my perspective, it was totally dark!

Wow you were such a pro! And it is fun to see the face 'behind the blog'. :)

You were great! I love the swap idea too. My husband and I live in Alaska and the summers here are full of people. I have thought that we should try this once. I am sure someone, somewhere, would be interested.

I also like the idea of a closet with a lock on it. My husband is in Law Enforcement and we have items that we could not leave out.

i wasn't surprised one bit to hear you speak...you were just as articulate as i imagined. apartment swapping really does sound like such a fabulous adventure, but i must say i was a bit heartbroken when i found out you're visiting LA this xmas. i've always wanted to go to NY during this time of year and it would have been a perfect swap!

LOVED IT!!!

you looked so comfortable, and take it from a girl who spent the last 3 years in the news business as a reporter/anchor (who's bf is the main news anchor) you could TOTALLY do it. I can SO picture you anchoring the news :) you should think about it!!! (but STILL keep your SMITTEN job at Glamour lol)

fabulous job !

You are lovely! The story is fantastic! and you absolutely could anchor if you wanted!! your smiles is contagious!!!

Ditto on everything else posted here in your comments. 2E and I filmed an episode of Small Space/Big Style in our LA pad last year and it took them 12 hours to shoot an 8 minute segment. We had a whole new admiration for actors and anyone interviewed live, such as yourself. Bravo!

If you haven't had your LA fill after the Xmas trip this year maybe we could work something out down the road. Our pad has been featured on Design*Sponge, HGTV, and more (with another photo shoot scheduled tomorrow!) and is a guaranteed mouse free environment ;)

Joanna, what a great article and interview about home exchange. Congratulations and thanks! Talking about your positive home exchange experiences publicly helps to raise awareness for this truly amazing vacation alternative.
To me, home exchange is a bit like "Having your cake and eating it, too".
Here is an example. When my family and I came back home from our last home exchange trip three weeks ago, two baskets worth of fresh laundry was neatly piled up on a table, perfectly ironed. (Finishing our laundry was the only task I didn't manage to finish before our swap!) It’s our home exchange guests, an older couple from Spain, who simply had finished the task for me. Such kindness blows my mind and really reinforces my belief in the goodness of mankind. And it does not stop at national borders, either. Such care and friendliness I have experienced again and again among home exchangers around the world.
Come visit us at my own home exchange club http://www.jewettstreet.com/ to experience the true spirit of home exchange!
