i love the clutter, especially in organized piles in a great big open room. it reminds me of my childhood piano teacher's house. the mix of modern and baroque elements is very nice.
just wanted to say that you're in my new blog's blogroll. because i love your blog. it talks about authenticity. and that's what i'm looking for, even if i'm just at the beginning of my journey.
snobber is so right..."organized clutter" is the way to go...love the paintings above the door and the gaetano pesce la michetta (?) sofa section...it's so easy to succumb to collyer brother's syndrome if you are a design junkie...but this room demonstrates restraint...i suspect a great editor lives here.
I would most certainly categorize this as 'organized chaos,' which I adore for its lived-in feel. I also am going to copy the paintings that are casually laid against the wall of the doorway (though it might not be the safest idea seeing as how I live in earthquake territory).
Every doorway should feature a ledge like that one! I love the wallpaper, the chandelier, the tin ceiling, the lanterns and the card catalog. Basically all of it.
I do love it, but sometimes other epople's clutter look s way better than my own...or maybe that just because they have a stylist to make they're look just so.
this room is adorable...I want my home to look like that someday.
I hope everything is good with you. I am going to be putting together a New York insert for the September Issue of Design for mankind E-Zine. I was hoping you might want to be apart of it.
It looks so cozy!
ReplyDeleteOh I love the deep colors mixed with bright whites! And I really am drawn to those adjoining rooms with patterned walls!
ReplyDeleteI like it, especially because its a room you can live in, I hate those museum houses where nothing can be moved around and it just ends up stuffy.
ReplyDeletelove the hanging lanterns. Chaos with meaning. I like.
ReplyDeleteNope, sorry... :)
ReplyDeletei like the 'mess' ...not a fan of the green wall paper but. and the book case is soooooo nice!
ReplyDeletei am pro clutter, organised clutter though :)
