A reader in Germany gave me a tip about the painter Gerd Brunzema, who paints his children while they're sleeping. My reader says: "Very strange. It isn't cute at all. But I like it, cause it looks authentic." I find the series really sweet, though. (What do you think, readers: Creepy or cute?) Either way, they're wonderful.

i think they are lovely. Children look so sweet when they are sleeping. i like the colors and the watercolor mottled look.
ReplyDeleteI think they're beautiful, but I don't really think they're cute. b/c there IS something slightly sinister about sleep--when lively little children go all comatose. (sorry if that's a big downer).
ReplyDeleteThe bottom 2 are sweet. Something about just showing the eyes is nice. The top 2 don't quite capture it for me. Nothing like the real thing, though.
